ABSTRACT

General conditioning requirements for different crop seed are described here.

Specific machines used and what they remove are included, along with some previously-used screen selections and discs or cylinders. However, each seed lot is usually different and must be considered as an individual separate entity, and separators, screens, adjustments, etc., must be selected to meet the specific requirements of each lot. The information listed here is useful as guidelines. In some cases, machines which were previously used, but are no longer used are listed, as are machines which are infrequently used; this is so noted. These give an indication of what can be done to achieve the required seed purity and quality in a cost-effective manner, whether it is a large lot using high-capacity machines or a small lot using laboratory-model separators mounted on a work table.
