ABSTRACT

In Chapter 3 the foundations of Bayesian evaluation of informative hypotheses were elaborated. Chapter 4 presented applications in the context of the J group ANOVA model, introduced two more properties (a reference value for interpretation of the Bayes factor and the requirement of compatible unconstrained prior distributions if the goal is to compare two informative hypotheses), discussed and illustrated sensitivity of the Bayes factor with respect to the specification of the unconstrained prior distribution, and showed how BIEMS can be used to obtain (among other things) Bayes factors.
