ABSTRACT

Finding novel and ef’cient compounds of natural origin has been a major point of concern for research in the pharmaceutical and cosmeceutical sciences. This is mainly because of their high af’nity to the target, little loss of entropy when they bind to a protein, and their bioavailability. Moreover, natural compounds are quite ™exible in conformational acquisition in aqueous and lipophilic environments (Bhatnagar and Kim, 2010). Nature is a storehouse of a vast variety of ™ora and fauna, including microbial inhabitants that contribute chemically diverse compounds with great therapeutic and cosmeceutic potential. These compounds further have a giant impact on the drug discovery regime of the present day (Da Rocha et al., 2001).
