ABSTRACT

The idea of semantic web is in¤uenced by earlier work dating back to Vannevar Bush’s idea of the “memex” machine in the 1940s based on a universal library, completed with a searchable catalog (Bush 1945). After then, Berners-Lee et al. (2001) provided the concept of the semantic web where machines were able to access and locate information and services instead of people to carry out routine transactions and decision making. This can be done by providing sufŽcient information/context about resources on the Web and also providing the mechanisms to use the context so that machines Žnd appropriate information. According to them,

The Semantic Web will bring structure to the meaningful content of Web pages, creating an environment where software agents roaming from page to page can readily carry out sophisticated tasks for users.
