ABSTRACT
Various researchers have been working on the development of design methods for tension piles in overconsolidated clays, among which de Beer [1], for the Boom Clay in Belgium and Vesic [2] in the United States. Both used the concept of an adhesion value related to either a CPT friction value (de Beer) or the undrained cohesion as measured in the laboratory (Vesic).
