ABSTRACT

Certainly, impressive graphics, animations, and sound do play an important role in the overall experience and can greatly help in attracting players, immersing them in the gaming world, and in increasing the overall appeal and fun-factor of a game. Th is, though, as exemplifi ed by games such as Braid or Flower, should be seen more as a requirement needed from an artistic perspective where the graphics and soundscapes are functional in enhancing the aesthetics that characterize the gameplay’s unique focus, and not as a mere tool to showcase technical and computational power.
