ABSTRACT
In this chapter we will examine the techniques for the calibration or fitting, or sometimes called specification, of a frequency model for a data series: this consists, essentially, of estimating the parameters of the model. We will look at both classical statistical techniques for parameter estimation, and methods used specifically in frequency hydrology.
