ABSTRACT
Today astronomy and astrophysics are subbranches of physics. But earlier in our history, they were completely separate. In fact, when astronomy was well on its way to becoming an exact science in antiquity, physics was nothing but a (false) description of the most obvious phenomena. The reason was twofold: the primacy of the mind and the loftiness of heaven.
