Industry, like academia, has placed too much emphasis on employing technology and too little on understanding the pathology of human cancer.

Chromosomal imbalance theory puts everything about cancer in a diff erent light. To begin with, the “war on cancer” metaphor should be replaced. Cancer is better viewed as an ecological problem: the patient and the cancer are an environmental whole. Taking this small step would truly be one giant leap for humankind.
