ABSTRACT
As already seen in the previous chapter, a shaft consists of components with different functions and diameters. When coupling shafts or different components (™ywheel, gearings, etc.), the ends must match so the coupling is as perfect as possible, which means ensuring co-axiality of both parts. Splined couplings are used when velocities are high and vibrations must be minimized.
