ABSTRACT
I find nanotechnology fascinating as it is on the verge of completely reshaping our world. It also offers artists new insights on an aspect of nature that would otherwise be left unseen. My image, “Discovery,” provides the viewer with a metaphorical glimpse of the myriad possibilities inherent in the exploration of nanotechnology and its applications. Through the translucent egg we see a lush, mysterious world shimmering in early-morning light. A winged creature is stirring and slowly rising toward a small fissure in the side of the shell. Intellectual curiosity and the desire for discovery compel us to anticipate the opening of the pod, even while we are fully aware of risks inherent in the exploration process.
