ABSTRACT

In Section I of this book, we dealt briey with various theories and mechanisms of crystal growth. However, an experimentalist has always felt that the rate of growth and perfection of the grown crystal are more inuenced by careful and judicious control of the growth parameters than by the detailed knowledge of mechanisms and theories related to the growth. Nevertheless, they are extremely important for the development of the subject and also have applications, since it has been evidenced in recent years that the growth mechanisms do inuence certain crystal properties.
