ABSTRACT

In the following sections, we discuss these techniques one by one, but we will limit our discussion mainly to the basics.

As indicated earlier, the growth from aqueous solution is probably the oldest method of crystal growth. A large number of industrial processes forming crystalline products ranging from table salt to complex pharmaceuticals

employ this technique. However, in all these processes, the main objective is to obtain a high yield of uniform-sized crystalline product where the size  required is quite small and the crystalline perfection is of no importance. Here, the growth is either by spontaneous nucleation or by seeding where the seeds are crystalline powders. Such processes are of no use in growing large and perfect crystals.
