ABSTRACT
A range of primary immunodeficiency disorders is recognized in animals and homologues for many of these exist in man. These diseases are generally breed associated, clearly inherited and have clinical and immunological abnormalities consistent with immune dysfunction. However, for the majority of animal immunodeficiencies the precise genetic mutation has not been established and many of these disorders remain putative immunodeficiencies until such evidence is provided. Primary immunodeficiency
At the end of this chapter you should be able to: • Define primary and secondary
immunodeficiency. • List the clinical features that might indicate
the presence of an underlying primary immunodeficiency disease.
