Applications involving a range of plastics are reviewed in Table 8.1. It is seen in the table that the use of reinforced plastics is now penetrating the automotive industry very deeply, in many cases replacing the uses of metals. It can also be seen that glass fiber is probably the most widely used reinforcing agent.
