ABSTRACT

During the preparation for the 15th Conference of the Parties (COP15), in Copenhagen, Denmark, the Brazilian Government indicated the programs of climate change mitigation they proposed to adopt. The potential reduction in greenhouse gas emissions resulting from these action plans was estimated to be 35.1 to 38.9% of the projected emissions in Brazil until 2020. This voluntary commitment was made public through

law number 12,187, of December 29, 2009, and plans were made in accordance to the National Policy on Climate Change, taking into account the specifi cs of each sector.
