ABSTRACT
Soils are an important, although often underappreciated, component of almost any ecosystem and play both a structural and functional role in ecosystem dynamics. This is especially the case in the Everglades where unique environmental conditions and biogeochemical properties of soils are integral to the maintenance and function of the ecosystem.
