ABSTRACT
The alpha 1-antitrypsin (alAT) gene is located on the q arm of human chromo some 14 (1). The gene is 12.2 kb in length and consists of seven exons designated I A, IB, IC, II, III, IV, and V. The protein coding region is contained within exons II-V (2,3).
