ABSTRACT
In his day Knute Rockne was the nation's most successful football coach, so it was to be expected that coaches around the country would imitate his coaching style. His style was very conservative and consisted of playing safe, straight football and capitalizing on the opponents' errors. This strategy was ideally suited to his teams, which usually had the most strength and talent.
