ABSTRACT

Present Practices in Building Delivery To understand present practices, you have to look at the building construction industry and the ways HVAC and DDC systems are designed and installed. Not that long ago, buildings were built with only a few manually-operated me chanical and electrical systems. The final turn-over and building delivery fol lowed right after construction completion, cleaning up of the site, and testing of installed systems. But buildings have changed with additional requirements for safety, occupant comfort, and efficient operations, while reducing energy and operating costs. This is achieved with the addition of automated environ mental control systems. These systems control the building environment in much tighter tolerances, meeting end requirements for safety and comfort. They must also meet demands for energy-efficient operation, and must contain the ever in creasing cost for operation and maintenance. Modem buildings are like ships or airplanes. They are designed to function with, and be operated by, numerous systems that provide safety and occupancy comfort.
