ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the role of technology in the urban community and how it impacts city dwellers’ day-to-day lives. Technology-smartphones especially-provide the unprecedented opportunity to include people in defining and helping to solve urban issues. As mobile connectedness climbs to higher and higher rates, in both the developed and develop ing world, the ability to assess individual behaviors in a positive way also increases. We discuss the levels of community coordination and the new models for leveraging technology for community-driven planning, design, and change.
