ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION Insects and arachnids are common causes of bites, stings and infestations. Human infestation occurs in all societies and all socioeconomic groups. Arthropod vectors play a critical role in the spread of infectious diseases. Both common infestations and vector-borne illness are important to the practicing physician.
