The progress of research in normal-tissue/cancer stem cells has resulted inaremarkableaccumulationofscientišcdataonthein—uenceofthe microenvironmentoncellularfunction.Thischaptersummarizesdataon theintercellularinteractionsinhumanskinandothersquamousepithelia and focuses predominantly on the role of šbroblastsin the course of wound healing and cancer formation.
