The bulk of this chapter, though, explores two areas in which the impact of nanomedicine is likely to be most significant: diagnostics and medical records (Section 5.3) and treatment (Section 5.4), including surgery and drug delivery. Under each discussion, the author surveys some of the ethical and social issues that are likely to arise in these applications.
