ABSTRACT
Production of ceramic parts starts from powders. Hence, in this chapter, we shall consider the production of ceramic powders. These powders are prepared from the corresponding raw materials. The basic sources for the raw materials are:
a. Nature b. Synthesis
In nature, the raw materials for ceramics occur in the form of minerals. The minerals are mined and beneciated. These minerals usually contain oxides as their major constituents. If other types of ceramics, such as carbides, nitrides, or borides, are needed, then they are to be synthesized.
