ABSTRACT

Chilblains (perniosis) are localized inflam matory lesions which occur as an abnormal reaction to cold. They tend to develop in autumn or winter in countries in which the climate is both cold and humid. Chilblains can be associated with an underlying systemic disorder, including systemic lupus erythematosus, leukaemia, dysproteinaemias, myelodysplasia, and anorexia nervosa.
