ABSTRACT

The study of nuclear radiations, like most other physics topics, requires that we have some basic physics vocabulary at our fingertips. The vocabulary and phrases are expressed as mathematical equations connecting the physical properties of entities such as mass, electric charge, energy, momentum, wavelength, frequency, etc. Almost all estimates of radiations involve understanding its inter-relationship and being able to manipulate the equations. As we manipulate them, we should always bear in mind their range of applicability. This chapter will provide you with the necessary equations. We will introduce the units of these physical parameters as they are routinely used in radiation physics calculations.
