ABSTRACT
Don’t use an all-inclusive field code that has all site information. Keep it short to avoid the errors (and tedium) of transcribing. Use a narrow-tip waterproof marker or pencil (graphite doesn’t fade) on a sticky label. The label should then be totally covered by clear tape. Print out customized labels before the field work from a table using a word processor and sheets of adhesive paper.
