ABSTRACT
In this chapter we consider rate of deformation, area and volume, strain rate tensors, spin tensors and convected time derivatives of various orders of stress and strain tensors. This material is of utmost significance and importance in the development of the constitutive theory in addition to the development of the mathematical description of the deforming matter based on conservation of mass, balance of momenta, conservation of energy and the second law of thermodynamics.
