ABSTRACT
Research on instantaneous availability involves some basic theories and methods with respect to reliability engineering, reliability mathematics, random process, particle swarm algorithms, and so forth. In order to more easily understand the research on instantaneous availability, this chapter presents a brief introduction to the basic concept of availability; definition of main availability parameters; basic concepts of reliability, maintenance, and supportability, definitions of their main parameters, basic models for availability, and so on.
