ABSTRACT
Electrokinetic remediation process arises as an effective technique for the in situ treatment of soils with organic and inorganic pollution. It is based on a fl ushing process generated from the action of an electric current that allows the transport of pollutants even when the soil is characterized with low permeability. This technique can be found in the literature with several terms such as electrokinetic remediation, electrokinetics, electroremediation, or electrochemical remediation, among others (Acar and Alshawabkeh 1993).
