Mounting Specifications Specification of the type of mounting for a cylinder depends largely upon the application. Some of the factors that should be considered include:
1. Cylinders with noncenterline-type mountings tend to sway under load (Figure 15.10a). The resulting additional wear on the cylinder can shorten the useful life of the component. This is especially important on larger bore cylinders.
