ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we shall look closely at each of the three dynamic modes that we extracted in Chapter 6 from the small-perturbation lateral-directional dynamic equations.

The fastest of the three modes is the roll mode, which was modelled by the first-order dynamical equation

∆ ∆ µ µ= Lp2 (7.1)

As you can see, Equation 7.1 is actually written in terms of ∆ µ , the roll rate. Hence, to be correct, we should call it the roll rate mode, but it is often shortened to just the roll mode.
