ABSTRACT

Physical exam reveals a moderately obese women, 5′4′′ tall, weighing 165 lbs. Pulse is 72/min, blood pressure 140/90, respirations 16/min. Fundiscopic exam shows a few exudates and mild arteriolar narrowing.Thyroid is 20 g. Examination of the cardiovascular system reveals normal carotid pulses without bruits, normal sinus rhythm without murmers or gallops, normal femoral pulses without bruits but diminished dorsalis pedis pulses. Laboratory results include a fasting blood glucose of 110 mg/dl and a blood urea nitrogen (BUN) of 24 mg/dl. Her fasting lipid profile includes a total cholesterol of 225 mg/dl, triglycerides 250 mg/dl, HDL-cholesterol 41 mg/dl, LDL-cholesterol 134 mg/dl.
