ABSTRACT

Sphere tensiometry is an established method to measure the surface tension of a liquid [1-4]. In sphere tensiometry, the force required to pull a sphere out of a liquid is measured. From this force, the surface tension of the liquid can be calculated. Also, the contact angle on the sphere can be determined by measuring the whole force vs. pull-out distance curves [5, 6, 7a]. For sphere tensiometry, usually spheres with typical diameters of several 100 μιη are used.
