ABSTRACT
The reader may feel that this paper offers a pessimistic view on thin film adhesion measurement. It is true that fundamental adhesion cannot presently be measured or calculated. However, practical adhesion can be measured reliably, if certain constraints are observed in sample preparation and analysis [1]. The author solic its and will be greatful for any solutions to overcome the inability to determine the fundamental adhesion for thin film microelectronic structures.
