ABSTRACT

To assess the productivity of the marine ecosystem and its resistance to various effects, it seems necessary to study the qualitative and quantitative organic matter composition, in addition to the variability of the relevant parameters in time and space. This is particularly true for the Black Sea anoxic waters, because "it is the organic matter and all the related processes adding to its conversion in the sea that are the major factors which determine the chemical composition of Black Sea waters" [1].
