ABSTRACT
Raman scattering is interaction of light with the material that the light is propagating through, more specifically, interactions with microscopic vibrations and/or rotations within the material at the molecular level. There are several ways to describe and picture the process of Raman scattering. In a simple picture one may imagine that the light sets up dipoles and induces a macroscopic polarization that reradiates light.
