ABSTRACT

During the past decade paediatric toxicology has substantially advanced in line with all other branches of medical toxicology; such advances should be considered in the context of general forensic toxicology, with particular attention being directed at the various aspects of the subject that are somewhat unique to the paediatric age group. In this respect, this chapter focuses on several important areas of forensic toxicology that have undergone significant changes in the past decades, but which also are of particular interest and specific importance to paediatricians and pathologists involved in a medicolegal or forensic practice.
