ABSTRACT
Neurilemmoma is the most frequent nerve tumour. It is found on a peripheral nerve. Much less often, the neoplasm is recognised on the vestibular part of the eighth cranial nerve where it is designated ‘acoustic neuroma’. The fibres of the affected nerve are displaced and it is usually possible to enucluate the tumour. Malignant change is very rare.
