ABSTRACT
Postpneumonectomy emphema (PPE) associated with bronchopleural fistula (BPF) is the most dreaded complication in thoracic surgery. The reported incidence ranges from 2-13%, reaching its peak in the second and third postoperative weeks and declining rapidly thereafter. However, PPE has been reported even 35 years after operation.
