ABSTRACT
Anterior mediastinal lesions requiring surgical treatment are usually myasthenia gravis (MG) or thymic tumors. A thymectomy is most frequently used, and occasionally a resection of the surrounding organs is performed in advanced malignancy. This chapter describes extended thymectomy for MG patients and surgical treatment for an invasive thymoma, with special reference to resection and reconstruction of the great vessels.
