ABSTRACT
Although many surgeons still perform rigid sigmoidoscopy as a first-line investigation of children with lower GI bleeding, colonoscopy offers many advantages. For example, although the majority of children with polyps will have a single juvenile polyp within 15 cm of the anus, not infrequently more than one polyp is found if a full colonoscopy is performed.
