Innovative practitioners in the field SALVADOR MINUCHIN Salvador Minuchin became Director of the Philadelphia Child Guidance clinic in USA in 1965. He worked with families living in poverty and often with only one parent at home. In 1967, he published ‘Families of the Slums’. Salvador Minuchin introduced several new techniques, focused on establishing a hierarchy of ‘executive system’ and ‘child subsystem’ in the family. His approach became known as structural family therapy.
