P pacemaker effect (mri) Implanted electronic

devices are susceptible to magnetic fields. Static magnetic field, RF fields and pulsed gradients can induce voltages in circuits. Transcutaneous control and/or adjustment of pacing rate frequently uses reed switches activated by an external magnet to open/close the switch. Others use rotation of an external magnet. The fringe field around an MR magnet can activate these switches or controls. Areas with fields higher than 0.5 mT (5 G) commonly have restricted access and/or are posted as being a risk to persons with pacemakers.
