ABSTRACT
In contrast to the symmetries discussed above, where the transformations involve parameters which are independent of spacetime coordinates, some systems possess local gauge symmetry. Here the transformations involve local parameters, namely, ones which can vary with spacetime location. The most common system of this type is the electromagnetic field.
