Radial nerve

What is the course of the radial nerve? What is the effect of dividing the radial nerve? What coexisting injuries would you be worried about if a patient suffers a spiral fracture of the humerus?

• C5-T1 nerve roots • Arises from the posterior cord of the brachial plexus • Posterior cutaneous nerve of the forearm is given off in the axilla • Passes between the long and medial heads of triceps • Passes adjacent to and in contact with the humerus in the spiral groove,

posteriorly, accompanied by the profunda vessels • Pierces the anconeus muscle, supplying it • Continues into antecubital fossa between brachialis and brachioradialis muscles.
