ABSTRACT

The use of circulatory adjustments to achieve a desirable hemodynamic state is a cornerstone of perioperative anesthetic management. These maneuvers are mostly accomplished by physiologic and pharmacologic manipulations and, thus, are within the purview of the anesthesiologist. The broad spectrum of circulatory adjustments in the anesthetized patient will be highlighted by focusing on some of the circulatory measures intended to reduce blood loss and the management of perioperative hypertension.
