ABSTRACT

Electivevascular surgical procedures are mostly performed for the relief of ischemic symptoms resulting from atherosclerotic occlusivedisease of the internal carotid, aortoiliac, and femoropopliteal arteries. Emergency vascular surgery, on the other hand, is most commonly concerned with repair of an acutely ruptured aorta that has as its cause atherosclerotic aneurysmal disease or the acutely thrombosed mesenteric or femoral arterial trees.
