ABSTRACT
Pain is a common human experience, a symptom frequently encountered in clinical practice that is usually associated with actual or impending tissue damage.1 Pain is a consistent and predominant complaint of most individuals following most surgical interventions. "Failure to relieve pain is morally and ethically unacceptable."2 Adequate pain relief could be considered a basic human right.
